An article regarding the British view of the War of 1812 printed in Naval History and reprinted with permission, Copyright © 2008 U.S. Naval Institute/www.usni.org. The author, Dr. Jeremy Black is a professor of history at the University of Exeter, England. In 2008 he was awarded the Samuel Eliot Morison Prize for his work in military history. On page 24 of this article is the famous painting of Admiral Cockburn at Havre de Grace as he burned the village.
